Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026
Vircue is a macOS menu-bar utility that saves and restores window layouts, mirrors windows into a Picture-in-Picture corner, and opens layouts, apps, and websites on a schedule. This policy explains what Vircue does and does not do with your data.
The short version
Vircue does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. Everything Vircue needs to work stays on your Mac. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no account to create.
What stays on your device
All of the following is stored locally on your Mac and never leaves it:
- Saved layouts — the apps and window positions you snapshot.
- Schedules — your scheduled layouts, apps, and websites.
- Preferences — theme, launch-at-login, onboarding state, and trial/license state, stored in standard macOS preferences.
You can delete this data at any time by removing the app and its configuration files.
Permissions Vircue requests, and why
- Accessibility — required to move, resize, and arrange your app windows through Apple's Accessibility API. Vircue does not read window contents.
- Screen Recording — required only for Picture-in-Picture. A mirrored window is streamed live into an on-screen panel with ScreenCaptureKit. Vircue never saves, uploads, or persists captured video.
Both permissions are granted by you through macOS system prompts and can be revoked anytime in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Network use
The core features — layouts, scheduling, Picture-in-Picture, and switching — work fully offline and make no network requests.
License activation: when you enter a license key to unlock
Pro, that key may be sent to our payment provider,
[your payment provider], solely to verify it is valid. No other
personal information is transmitted.
Updates: if automatic updates are enabled, Vircue periodically downloads a small update manifest and, when an update exists, the new app version. These requests include only standard delivery information (such as your IP address and app version) and are not used to track you.
Children
Vircue is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
